"The act of creating is the act of becoming. Women's education in the arts is an act of revolutionary becoming." — Bell Hooks
The Drop-Off: From Education to Art World is a group exhibition featuring six artists from the Fé Collective. The exhibition opens a space to consider the chasm between art school to art world; a space where there is a drastic drop-off of female artists. According to Dr Kate McMillan in the Freelands Foundation 2020 report, in the year 2019-2020 there were 73% if creative post-graduates were female,[2] and in the year prior 68% of artists represented in major London commercial galleries are men.[3] This exhibition navigates the space between education and art world and why there is a drop-off of female artists.
